IPL 2023: WATCH – Dhoni unimpressed with Moeen Ali’s lazy fielding effort; CSK skipper’s miffed expression goes viral

Moeen failed to collect the ball neatly in first attempt and took his time before throwing it back to Dhoni.

MS Dhoni and Moeen Ali | ScreengrabChennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni has always been known for his calm attitude on the field, regardless of the situation. It is something that has earned him the nickname 'Captain Cool'.

On Monday (April 17), however, there was a rare instance which made Dhoni furious on the field and his expression was telling the story.

During CSK’s IPL 2023 match against RCB at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Moeen Ali missed a run-out opportunity in the 18th over of the chase.

Wayne Parnell rushed for a quick single after hitting the ball straight to extra cover, where Moeen was stationed. The non-striker Suyash Prabhudessai did not respond to Parnell's call and the two batters nearly ended up being at the same, creating an easy chance for a run out.

However, Moeen failed to collect the ball neatly in the first attempt and took a bit of time before throwing it back to Dhoni. By the time, the CSK captain dislodged the bails the batter had returned back to his crease.

While Dhoni did not utter a word, his miffed expression clearly suggested that he wasn’t impressed with Moeen Ali’s lazy fielding effort.

Here’s the video:

Coming to the match, the Super Kings registered a narrow eight-run victory over RCB in a high-scoring thriller.

Invited to bat first, CSK piled up a mammoth 226/6 on the board with vital contributions from Devon Conway (83 off 45) and Shivam Dube (52 off 27).

In reply, Faf du Plessis (62 off 33) and Glenn Maxwell (76 off 36) took the CSK attack to the cleaners, stitching a 126-run stand in just 61 balls. It was carnage from both ends as the hosts raced past 140 in just the 12th over, bringing the required rate under control.

However, the duo got out in quick succession as RCB eventually managed 218/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
