The high-voltage clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will now be played on May 3 at the same time of 3 PM, a day earlier as PTI reported that there are municipal elections scheduled for May 4 in the city.

While there is no official communication on the preponement of the game, the BCCI has informally told the teams that the match could be held a day in advance.

"There could be issues with regards to security deployment as Lucknow Municipality goes to polls on Thursday, May 4. LSG's game against CSK is a mid-week afternoon game at 3:30 pm. Now the game could be played a day earlier, Wednesday, May 3 at the same time," a senior BCCI source told PTI.

Notably, CSK had won the first encounter against LSG which was played on April 3rd in Chennai by 12 runs.

CSK had put on 217/7 in 20 overs with Ruturaj Gaikwad making 57 and Devon Conway making 47 runs. Then MS Dhoni gave the innings the perfect finish hitting LSG pacer Mark Wood for two sixes consecutively in the last over.

In reply, despite Kyle Mayers’ 22-ball 53-run knock, the CSK bowling unit managed to keep LSG to 205/7 with significant contributions from Nicolas Pooran (32 in 18) and Ayush Badoni (23 in 18). Moeen Ali’s 4/26 helped CSK win the match by 12 runs.
