Delhi Capitals (DC) copped their fifth successive defeat in the IPL 2023 season in as many games on Saturday (April 15).
The David Warner-led side went down by 23 runs against RCB at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Chasing 175 to win, DC never looked comfortable, losing three wickets for just 2 runs.
After the game, skipper Warner expressed his disappointment over the team’s batting display in the powerplay overs.
"Yeah, look I said at the toss that we need to bat well. Our batting didn't get together and we failed to chase down a total that our bowlers did well to restrict them. See, once you lose three wickets inside the powerplay, you are always behind the game," Warner said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
During the chase, the Capitals were reeling at 30/4 after 5.4 overs. While Warner got out for 13-ball 19, the likes of Prithvi Shaw (0), Mitchell Marsh (0) and Yash Dhull (1) failed to score in double figures.
Thanks to Manish Pandey’s 38-ball 50, the visitors managed 151/9 in their allotted 20 overs.
"Siraj with his tail up was bowling magnificently. The positives are that our bowlers were on spot and they managed to restrict the opposition. We have five days off from the game now, and will come with a better intent," Warner further added.
Delhi Capitals will next face Kolkata Knight Riders at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday (April 20).
