IPL 2023: Cricket fraternity reacts as Rana, Rinku fifties no match for Brook's ton as SRH defeats KKR by 23 runs

This was SRH's second win in four IPL 2023 matches.

Harry Brook scored a brilliatn century for SRH, his first in IPL | BCCI-IPLThe 19th match of the IPL 2023 saw the clash of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the scenic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 14, 2023. KKR had come into this match after an amazing win over Gujarat Titans, while SRH had only one win in their three matches thus far.

KKR captain Nitish Rana won the toss and chose to bowl first. While KKR came in unchanged, SRH brought in Abhishek Sharma as their only change.

SRH innings was punctuated by an amazing 100* by Harry Brook (12 fours and 3 sixes), who silenced his critics after poor outings in last 3 games. Captain Aiden Markram made 50 in 26 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes, while Abhishek Sharma made 32 in 17 and Heinrich Klaasen made 16* in 6 balls as SRH finished on 228/4 in 20 overs.

Andre Russell picked 3/22 for KKR.

In reply, Nitish Rana led the KKR chase with 75 in 41 balls with 6 sixes and 5 fours to his name and N Jagadeesan made 36 in 21 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. However, Marco Jansen with 2/37 and Mayank Markande with 2/27 ensured that none of the other dangerous batters could do damage.

Rinku Singh made a valiant 58* in 31 balls with 4 sixes and 4 fours, but KKR could only make 205/7 and lost the match by 23 runs, giving SRH their second win in four matches.

The cricket fraternity was all praises for the Sunrisers Hyderabad side on Twitter and lauded their team effort as well as the fight shown by Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh in a difficult chase.
