IPL 2023: Eoin Morgan says it would’ve been “Kohli-Gambhir gloves off” moment had Harshal Patel ran Ravi Bishnoi out

LSG defeated RCB in Bengaluru by one wicket in a last-ball thriller.

Harshal Patel missed running Ravi Bishnoi out on last ball | BCCI-IPLFormer England captain Eoin Morgan, who is currently commentating in the ongoing IPL 2023, said that fans could have seen a “Virat Kohli-Gautam Gambhir gloves off” had the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) Harshal Patel ran out Ravi Bishnoi of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their match on Monday.

Both the sides played out an instant classic which came down to the last delivery of the match. RCB had batted first after LSG captain KL Rahul won the toss and put up 212/2 in 20 overs with Virat Kohli making 61, Faf du Plessis making 79* and Glenn Maxwell hammering a quick fifty as well.

RCB bowlers then did a good job removing the top order for cheap, but then Marcus Stoinis with 65 and Nicholas Pooran with a 19-ball 62, brought them back into the game.

It all came down to the last over when 5 runs were needed. Though Harshal Patel picked two wickets in the over, the last ball proved to be an exciting one.

IPL 2023: “220-odd would have put additional pressure,” Pooran hails Mark Wood for his last over after LSG’s win over RCB

With one needed to win for LSG, Harshal Patel first missed a runout chance off his bowling at the non-striker’s end and then Dinesh Karthik fumbled the ball on the final delivery as Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi scampered for a bye and won the game for LSG by one wicket.

Eoin Morgan had a funny take on Harshal Patel missing the run out opportunity and said that there would have been a “Kohli-Gambhir gloves off” moment after the match.

Not for one moment, do I think it was a conscious effort. Harshal Patel was running in and must have been in shock to see how far away he (Bishnoi was) and missed the run-out. But if he had run him out, there would have been a pitch invasion. It would have been Kohli-Gambhir gloves off,” Morgan said on Jio Cinema.

Lucknow tops the leaderboard with six points from four games. Bangalore slipped to No. 7 with one win from three matches.
