Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer Yash Dayal was at the receiving end of Rinku Singh’s carnage in Match 13 of the IPL 2023 season at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday (April 9).

Chasing 205 to win, KKR needed 29 off the last over and Rinku smashed Yash for five consecutive sixes to take his team over the finishing line on the last delivery.

As soon as Rinku hit the fifth six to seal the deal, Yash was left dejected as he sat on the ground in sheer disbelief. In a video going viral on the internet, the left-armer can be seen covering his face in disappointment before being consoled by his teammates.

The onslaught on Yash Dayal also left his mother shattered as news agency PTI reported that Radha Dayal was inconsolable and stopped eating. Yash’s nutritionist sister Shuchi took care of her mother.

"It was a nightmare yesterday," Yash Dayal’s father Chandrapal Dayal said in an interaction with PTI.

"These are the moments sport is made up of. Even in life you come across failures, it's important to stand up stronger," he added.

Chandrapal Dayal is grateful to skipper Hardik Pandya and other GT players, who didn't leave his son alone and tried to cheer him up after the forgettable outing.

"They made him sit in the centre and consoled him. Later, there was naach-gaana (dance, music) they spent some light moments with him," his father said.

Chandrapal also opened up on his chat with son Yash later in the night.

"He told me that somehow the ball was slipping out and he was not having a proper grip on the night as he missed his yorkers. Even he tried a slower one from the back of his hand that too was smashed," Chandrapal said.

"He (Rinku) just had to smash every ball and they know each other well. It may have come handy for Rinku and it was simply not his day. Many great cricketers (Chetan Sharma) has gone through this," he added.

In the IPL 2023 auction, the Ahmedabad-based franchise acquired the services of Yash Dayal for INR 3.20 Cr.
