Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shikhar Dhawan put on a show with the bat in Match 14 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday (April 9).
Invited to bat first, PBKS got off to a terrible start as they lost three wickets for just 22 runs but left-handed opener Dhawan displayed his class.
The southpaw held one end firmly while the other Punjab batters kept losing wickets from the other end.
Dhawan played the role of both anchor and aggressor to perfection. He notched up his half-century in 42 balls and smashed a six on the last delivery of the innings to remain stranded on 99 not out off 66 balls.
His knock was studded with 12 fours and 5 sixes, propelling Punjab Kings to a respectable 143/9 in 20 overs.
For waging a lone battle, Shikhar Dhawan received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
