IPL 2023: “I had belief that I can do this,” Rinku Singh after slamming 5 straight sixes to script KKR’s win over GT

Rinku Singh pulled off a victory for KKR from the jaws of defeat.

Rinku Singh | BCCI-IPLRinku Singh starred with the bat as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pulled off a three-wicket victory from the jaws of defeat against Gujarat Titans (GT) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday (April 9).

Chasing 205 to win, KKR needed 29 off the last over and Rinku smashed Yash Dayal for five consecutive sixes to take his team over the finishing line on the last delivery.

The southpaw was rightfully adjudged Player-of-the-Match for his remarkable knock of 48* in 21 balls, including 1 four and 6 sixes.

After the game, Rinku Singh said he had the belief to seal the chase and also revealed his chat with KKR skipper Nitish Rana.

"I had belief that I can do this. Rana bhai said to keep belief and to bat till the end, then we will see what happens," Rinku stated.

The left-hander, who fell short of pulling off a heist when KKR needed 21 runs in the final over against Lucknow Super Giants last season, further said he was just reacting to the ball without thinking much.

"I was just trying to hit sixes. (Umesh) Bhaiya was asking me not to think much and just play the ball. I was not thinking a lot, was just reacting to the ball. It kept coming out of the middle, I had belief and it came off in the end," he added.

Rinku Singh will be next seen in action during KKR’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens on April 14.
