Riding on Rinku Singh’s brutal 48* off 21 balls, Kolkata Knight Riders pulled off a three-wicket victory from the jaws of defeat against Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday (April 9).

With 29 required off the last over, Umesh Yadav took a single on the first delivery and then Rinku smashed left-arm pacer Yash Dayal for five successive sixes to take KKR over the finishing line.

As soon as Rinku hit the fifth six to seal the deal, the KKR camp broke into jubilant celebration while Yash was left dejected as he sat on the ground in sheer disbelief.

In a video doing rounds on social media, Yash can be seen covering his face in disappointment before being consoled by his teammates.

Speaking after the game, GT’s stand-in skipper Rashid Khan admitted that this loss is a hard pill to swallow for the defending champions.

“It's a tough game for us, especially for me as a captain. You need 30 plus in the last over, the same thing happened for us last year when we won. We will learn from it, more importantly a good game of cricket and the fans would have loved it. It was more about what he is most comfortable with, to trust his plans [on Yash Dayal's plans]. Rinku played unbelievable shots and credit goes to him for the way he played and for the way he finished,” Rashid, who claimed a hat-trick in the match, said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
