Krunal Pandya and Amit Mishra starred with the ball in Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) five-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday (April 7).
While Krunal ran through SRH’s top order to return with the figures of 3/18 in four overs, Mishra produced a stunning spell of 2 for 23 in his quota of four overs.
After the game, Krunal and Mishra interacted with each other for the official IPL website. During the chat, the duo opened up on their game plan, mindset and a lot more.
“I’ve been practising here for the last 10-15 days, I felt confident and I think wickets are a byproduct of that,” said Krunal Pandya, who was adjudged Player-of-the-Match.
Talking about his bowling strategy, Krunal revealed, “The four overs I bowled I thought pace would do the trick. Whenever a new batter was on crease I was varying my pace.”
Chasing 122 to win, the hosts were in trouble at 45/2 after the powerplay and then Krunal Pandya produced a brilliant knock of 34 in 23 balls. In the end, LSG overhauled the target with four overs to spare.
When asked about his mindset while batting, Krunal said: “After bowling four overs I knew with what approach I’m gonna bat. I took clue from the first innings and I planned on playing with intent that is what helped me bat that away and I wish to carry that forward.”
Mishra, 40, plucked a stunner in the 18th over of the game to dismiss Rahul Tripathi on 35.
Reflecting on his catch, the leg-spinner said, “I try to give my best and I think as long as I’m going to have that fire within me to take wickets I’m going to continue playing cricket.”
“I spoke to KL and he told me Mishi bhai do whatever you feel is right and I knew I wanted to bring down the run rate rather than getting a wicket,” he added.
Lucknow Super Giants will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 10.
