Rajasthan Royals (RR) have had a decent start to the IPL 2023, after a crushing win over Sunrisers Hyderabad followed by a narrow loss to Punjab Kings.

Last year's finalists under the captaincy of Sanju Samson are rated to be among the top favourites for this season with a well rounded squad featuring international stars and talented Indian youngsters.

One of their acquisitions at the auction was England's prolific batter and former Test captain Joe Root, who had never been to the IPL before, as RR successfully bought him at his base price of ₹1 crore in the closing rounds of the auction.

Root hasn't featured in the first two matches for RR, but will hope to get a taste of onfield action at some point during his maiden IPL stint.

One of the more popular members of the team is undoubtedly, Yuzvendra Chahal, the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL history and the Purple Cap winner in 2022 edition for RR.

The leg-spinner is also a jovial character, who has a sense of humour and strong social media presence, as he keeps engaging with the RR admin regularly as well as teammates and opponents, while pulling their legs.

On Thursday, April 6, RR shared a video on their social media handles featuring Root and Chahal, as the duo hit the dance floor to the popular Punjabi number BIBA. RR captioned the tweet, “Welcome to IPL (Yuzi style) Roooot!”

In a video posted by IPL on Wednesday, Jos Buttler asked Root: “So everyone on social media’s been saying there’s a new friendship brewing between you and Yuzi. You actually like him, or like me, you entertain him and try and keep him at arm’s length?”

Root responded: “No, he’s great fun. I really enjoyed his company. Even though I have played a lot against him, I have never really gotten to know him before. I’m sure it’ll be entertaining throughout the tournament. He’s a good character.”
