Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Shardul Thakur put on a show with the bat in Match 9 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Eden Gardens on Saturday (April 16).
Shardul arrived in the middle during the 12th over when KKR were struggling at 89/5. Amid the pressure situation, Thakur took the RCB attack to the cleaners and slammed his maiden IPL half-century in just 20 balls.
In the process, Shardul was involved in a 103-run stand with Rinku Singh. The partnership was broken in the penultimate over as Harshal Patel removed Rinku for 46 off 33 balls
Shardul Thakur was dismissed in the final over by Mohammed Siraj but not before he smashed 68 in only 29 deliveries. His whirlwind knock was studded with 9 boundaries and 3 sixes.
Earlier in the innings, KKR opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 57 off 44 balls and the hosts eventually piled up a mammoth 204/7 in 20 overs.
