IPL 2023: “Honour to share the dressing room with him,” Vijay Shankar hails Shubman Gill’s work ethic

Gill scored 63 off 36 balls in GT's tournament opener against CSK.

Shubman Gill | BCCI-IPLShubman Gill has taken the cricketing world by storm with his stunning exploits in 2023. The stylish right-hander has already slammed five international centuries this year, including a double ton in ODIs against New Zealand.

Gill carried on his brilliant form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, scoring 63 off 36 balls in Gujarat Titans’ (GT) tournament opener against Chennai Super Kings last Friday (March 31).

Ahead of the GT’s second IPL game against Delhi Capitals, all-rounder Vijay Shankar said Shubman’s tremendous work ethic is worth following and something that has helped him in the past during tough times.

“Gill is an inspiration and it has been an honour to share the dressing room with him for Gujarat and earlier for India A. He is an outstanding player. His work ethic is tremendous and that is what helps you get out of tough situations,” Shankar quoted as saying by PTI.

The ‘Impact Player’ rule has made headlines in the lead-up to the IPL 2023 season. While many believe that the rule would nullify role of all-rounders, Vijay said he has enough skills to be selected for a particular role.

“I enjoy batting and bowling and tomorrow if an injury happens, I am ready to play any role that the team wants me to perform,” he stated.

Gujarat Titans will take on Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday (April 4).
