IPL 2023: WATCH- Umran Malik demolishes Devdutt Padikkal’s stumps with a 149.2 kph snorter

RR batted first and put on 203/5 with fifties from Jaiswal, Buttler and Samson.

Umran rattled Padikkal's stumps | IPL-BCCISunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) hosted the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their first match of the IPL 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad on April 2, 2023.

SRH stand-in captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the toss and chose to bowl first. For SRH, Harry Brook, Glenn Phillips, Mayank Agarwal and Adil Rashid made their debuts. For RR, Jason Holder and KM Asif got their debut caps.

RR got off to a blazing start thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 54 in 37 balls and Jos Buttler’s 54 off 22 balls, as the duo added 85 runs in powerplay overs. Then Sanju Samson joined in the fun and scored 55 in 32 balls.

However, the SRH bowlers made a very good comeback as they dismissed Buttler soon after he reached his fifty and then Jaiswal fell after a good partnership with skipper Samson.

SRH pacer Umran Malik came for some pasting in his first two overs, going for 1 six and 4 fours, but he came back well with the wicket of Devdutt Padikkal in the 15th over.
