IPL 2023: Having Harry Brook and Adil Rashid in the team good for us, says SRH’s stand-in skipper Bhuvneshwar Kumar

SRH are all set to open their IPL 2023 campaign against RR on April 2.

Harry Brook | SRH/TwitterSunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are all set to open their IPL 2023 campaign against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday (April 2).

Ahead of the game, SRH’s stand-in skipper Bhuvneshwar Kumar addressed a press conference, where he said that the addition of England stars Harry Brook and Adil Rashid is great for the team.

Bhuvneshwar will be leading the side in the absence of SRH’s newly-appointed captain Aiden Markram, who is busy with international commitments as South Africa are currently playing a two-match series against the Netherlands, which is crucial for their chances of gaining direct qualification to ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

"It is a new team as compared to the last season. We have brought in new international and domestic players. Harry Brook and Adil Rashid are here. They are doing so well at the international level and having them in the team is good for us," said Bhuvneshwar in a pre-match presser.

The ‘Impact Player’ rule has made headlines in the lead-up to the IPL 2023 season. While some captains find it confusing, Bhuvneshwar said the rule will give a lot of "luxury" to their side.

With the COVID-19 pandemic on decline, the IPL has gone back to the home and away format from this season and Bhuvneshwar said the team is excited to play in front of the home crowd.

"Everyone is excited to play in the front of home stadium after three years. They have supported us throughout thick and thin, saw us clinch the title, saw us not being able to qualify for playoffs. We will try to put smiles to their faces with our performances."

Commenting on his side's bowling attack, Bhuvneshwar said: "The youngest one in the bowling attack is Umran. He did well for India and SRH last year. It is about going out there and executing our plans."
