The IPL 2023 began with a glittering opening ceremony on Friday, March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad before Gujarat Titans (GT) clashed with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the first bout of IPL 16.
The opening ceremony featured dance performances from Indian film industry stars Tamannah Bhatia and Rashmika Mandhanna. Along with these two beauties, singer Arijit Singh also performed his hit songs to make the day of the crowd present in the stadium.
He belted out chartbusters like ‘Kesariya’, ‘Pathaan’, and ‘Dance Da Bhooth’. Even CSK captain MS Dhoni was seen on camera vibing to the song ‘Deva Deva’ by Arijit Singh.
Towards the end of the opening ceremony, the captains of two teams Dhoni and Hardik Pandya were called on stage for a photo session with the performers and officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
When MS Dhoni approached Arijit Singh, the singer bent down and touched the great former India captain’s feet, even as Dhoni tried to stop him from doing so.

This gesture from Arijit Singh not only showed his down-to-earth nature despite his massive fan following and stardom amongst playback singers, but also highlighted how much respect MS Dhoni commands.
