IPL 2023: David Warner wants Rishabh Pant to take it 'slow and easy' as he recovers from multiple injuries

Warner will lead Delhi Capitals in the absence of Pant in the IPL 2023 season.

David Warner and Rishabh Pant | BCCI/IPLIndia wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is currently on the road to recovery after surviving a horrific car crash in December 2022.

In his absence, veteran opener David Warner is leading the Delhi Capitals in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

While Warner wants Pant to get better as fast as he can, the Australian cricketer urged him to take it "slow and easy".

"He's looking forward to supporting us as much as he can. I am sure he'll try his best to come and see us. But we want him to recover, take it slow and easy and get better as fast as he can," Warner said ahead of Delhi Capitals' opening match against Lucknow Super Giants on April 1.

Warner also talked about Akshar Patel's role as the vice-captain for the IPL 2023. The southpaw said he would rely on Akshar to bridge the "language barrier".

"Akshar will have great knowledge about all the players in the squad. He'll be in control of relaying information to the bowlers and also help me deal with the language barrier," said Warner.

With the COVID-19 pandemic on decline, the IPL returns to the home and away format for the first time since 2019 and Warner feels the home-ground advantage will be a huge factor this season.

"You get to understand the wicket at your home ground and you've also got your fans, who give you a boost. The fans' chants in the stadium will give us great strength and belief to play at our best," the DC captain said.
