Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have on Friday (March 31) confirmed their replacements for Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah, respectively, ahead of the start of IPL 2023 season.
Pant, who is the full-time skipper of Delhi Capitals, was ruled out after his horrific car accident in December which will see him miss not just IPL but also most of the international cricketing action including the World Cup in October-November 2023, barring a miraculous recovery.

Bengal wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel will replace Pant in the DC squad. Porel has played 16 first-class matches, as well as, three List-A and T20 matches each. He was chosen after impressing in the trials conducted by the franchise.
On the other hand, domestic veteran Sandeep Warrier will replace Jasprit Bumrah for Mumbai Indians, after the latter underwent a surgery to sort out his back issues since last July which has seen him miss a lot of cricket for India. Bumrah will now hope to be fit in time for the World Cup at home.
Warrier, who plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket, has 362 professional career wickets after playing in 66, 69 and 68 matches in first-class, List-A and T20 cricket respectively. He has also represented India in one T20I in 2021.
