IPL 2023: Mukesh Choudhary ruled out of IPL 16 with injury; CSK name replacement

Chennai Super Kings will be without Mukesh Choudhary who impressed in the previous season.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) left-arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary on Thursday (March 30) was ruled out of the upcoming IPL 2023 season, as he is still recovering from a stress fracture.

Akash Singh, ex-Rajasthan Royals pacer has been named by the franchise as replacement. He was also a part of India's U-19 World Cup team in 2020. In nine T20 matches, he has taken seven wickets.

Choudhary, picked up 16 wickets in 13 matches in 2022 and impressed everyone with his progress in his maiden IPL season. CSK CEO, Kasi Viswanathan had hinted at the likelihood of Choudhary being absent for this season with injury, which has now been confirmed.

CSK will play Gujarat Titans in the tournament opener on Friday (March 31) in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
