Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had reportedly walked out of the team hotel during the last stages of the IPL 2022 frustrated and angered over the treatment meted out to him during the season.
Ahead of the start of the IPL 2022 season, Ravindra Jadeja was named the captain of the CSK franchise in a shocking decision by the team management. But he failed to inspire the team to do well as the four-time champions finished ninth in the 10-team table with 10 losses and only four wins.
Jadeja had underperformed as well, scoring 116 runs at an average of 19 and claiming five wickets at an economy rate of 7.52. This led to CSK relinquishing him of captaincy and making MS Dhoni the skipper mid-season. Jadeja’s IPL 2022 ended early as well as he suffered a rib injury.
Meanwhile, sources in CSK camp told Cricbuzz, that Jadeja, who had reportedly walked out of the team hotel during the later stages of last season in Mumbai, had a long, frank chat with captain MS Dhoni, the most important man in the franchise. He also had a one-on-one with CEO Kasi Viswanathan before the 'air of misunderstanding' was cleared.
The conversation happened before Jadeja joined the CSK camp and he opened up on what irked him and what he expected going forward. Cricbuzz further reported that Jadeja was upset for two reasons- that the captaincy was taken away from him and that he was not also not able to perform to his best.

It was also said that MS Dhoni’s comments on his captaincy irked him as well.
Dhoni had said before one of the games on May 1: "I think Jadeja knew last season he'd be captaining this year. For the first two games, I oversaw his work and let him be later. After that, I insisted he'd take his own decisions and responsibility for them. Once you become captain, it means a lot of demands come in. But it affected his mind as the tasks grew. I think captaincy burdened his prep and performances.”
Dhoni and Viswanathan explained to Jadeja how captaincy was hindering his ability to perform for the team and it has been said that the all-rounder understood what was told to him. Jadeja, who was in Chennai for the third and final ODI against Australia on March 22, stayed back in the city and joined the CSK camp the next day.
"Jaddu is fine, he is happy to be back with the team and is very keen to do well. He is looking forward to the season," a CSK official told Cricbuzz on March 25.
CSK will start their campaign against defending champions Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on March 31, in the IPL 2023 season opener.
