Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have announced the signing of South African pacer Sisanda Magala as replacement for New Zealand all-rounder, Kyle Jamieson, who was ruled out of the IPL 2023 season with a back injury for which he underwent a surgery recently.
Magala, has played only 4 T20Is for South Africa, but comes with a reputation of being a whole-hearted performer with 136 wickets in T20 matches. Recently, he had turned out impressively for Sunrisers Eastern Cape, who were the eventual champions of the inaugural SA20 league.
He comes at a price of ₹50 lakhs for his maiden IPL stint, while Jamieson had been bought for ₹1 crore by CSK in the IPL player auction in December. The Kiwi had previously represented Royal Challengers Bangalore.
CSK posted a tweet to confirm the signing of Magala.
IPL's official Twitter account also confirmed the development with a media release.
CSK will play defending champions Gujarat Titans in the opening match of the season on March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
