Team India’s star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is currently being treated at the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai after he escaped a horrific car accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway on December 30.
Pant is expected to miss a lot of cricket this year following his accident last month, as his knee ligament injury is expected to heal in three to four months, which means he will definitely miss the upcoming IPL 2023.
Well, the former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, who will join the Delhi Capitals (DC) as their Director of Cricket, has confirmed that Pant will miss the IPL 2023, and his absence will definitely affect DC in the upcoming season.
Sourav Ganguly told reporters in Kolkata: “It will take time to heal. We cannot do anything. It's an accident. He is just 25. He has got a lot of time. Rishabh Pant will not be available for the IPL. I am in connection with DC. It will be a great IPL. We will do well. Pant's injury will affect DC.”
Notably, the IPL 2023 is set to begin in the last week of March. Meanwhile, it is being reported that Australia's David Warner may be handed the captaincy duty for DC in IPL 2023 in the absence of Pant. However, there has been no official word on the matter.
