The intense bidding war on some of the world’s cricket renowned names took the cricketing fraternity by storm in the ongoing IPL 2023 mini-auction in Kochi.
The likes of Sam Curran (18.50 Crore), Cameron Green (17.50 Crore), Ben Stokes (16.25 Crore), Nicholas Pooran (16 Crore) and Harry Brook (13.25 Crore) grabbed the headlines in the first few sets with their whopping price tag, with all of them fetching over INR 10 Crore.
Uncapped batters featured in Set No. 6 while set No. 7, 8 and 9 had uncapped all-rounders, wicketkeepers and fast bowlers up for grabs, respectively.
In these four sets, three Indians namely KS Bharat, Shivam Mavi and Mukesh Kumar hogged the headlines with their price tags.
Wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat, who had a base price of 20 Lakh, was roped in by defending champions Gujarat Titans for INR 1.20 Crore.
Fast bowler Shivam Mavi, who was previously associated with Kolkata Knight Riders, was fetched by GT for a hefty sum of INR 6 Crore. He entered into the auction ring with a base price of 40 Lakh.
Another uncapped India fast bowler who caught everyone’s attention in the auction table was Mukesh Kumar. Delhi Capitals bought Mukesh for INR 5.50 Crore while the Bengal pacer’s base price was 20 Lakh.
