The much-anticipated IPL auction for the 2023 season got underway in Kochi on Friday (December 23).
As many as 405 players are going under the hammer for 87 vacant slots as all 10 franchises look to fine-tune their squads for the one final time before the league's 16th edition.
The bid started with capped batters and the likes of Kane Williamson and Harry Brook grabbed the headlines.
Ahead of the mini-auction, Williamson was released by the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The New Zealand skipper entered into the auction with a base price of INR 2 crore and defending champions Gujarat Titans fetched him at the same amount.
England batter Harry Brook took the cricketing world by storm as he was roped in by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a hefty sum of INR 13.25 crore. Brook entered into the auction ring with a base price of INR 1.5 crore.
