The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 mini-auction is set to take place in Kochi on Friday (December 23) and speculation is already rife on what players the franchises will bid for.
Ahead of the auction day, the franchises have received a pleasant news as leading England and Australian all-rounders like Ben Stokes, Sam Curran and Cameron Green are likely to be available for the entire duration of IPL 2023.
According to TOI, which has a copy of BCCI’s communication to 10 franchises, the English and Australian cricket boards have confirmed that their cricketers are available for the whole IPL 16 season.
“Full availability. Players selected for ODI series against Afghanistan will be available from March 30. Players playing final of the Sheffield Shield to be available from March 28,” reads the communication regarding Cricket Australia.
“Full availability,” reads the communication regarding England players’ participation in IPL.
Furthermore, Cricket South Africa and Cricket West Indies have confirmed that their players will be available for the entire season and they will report to IPL franchises on March 29.
Sri Lanka Cricket has said that its players will feature in the IPL 2023 after April 8.
On the other hand, New Zealand Cricket has confirmed that its players will be fully available for the upcoming IPL season, while Afghanistan Cricket Board has said that its cricketers, who will be picked for the ODI series against Australia, will be available from March 30.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has informed that its players, who will be part of the series against Ireland, will appear in the IPL from April 8 to May 1.
Similarly, the Irish cricketers will not be available for the IPL from May 5-15. Cricket Zimbabwe has confirmed that its players are “fully available” for IPL 2023.
The 2023 edition of Indian Premier League is likely to get underway on March 31 or April 1.
