Indian batter Mayank Agarwal was excited about the possibility of playing for a new franchise in the upcoming IPL 2023 after the Punjab Kings (PBKS) released the former skipper ahead of the auction.
Agarwal was first replaced as captain by Shikhar Dhawan by PBKS and then released from the team ahead of the upcoming IPL 2023 auction, which is set to be held in Kochi on December 23.
e also opened up about the things he learned while leading PBKS in the IPL.
Mayank Agarwal was quoted as saying by Wisden: “Having captained an IPL franchise, you get to learn a lot more, you understand the game in more depth, and understand situations in a different perspective. It opens a new perspective, a new range. Use that experience and put it to good use.”

However, the Karnataka star stressed that he is eagerly waiting and watching how things unfold in the coming weeks, but that presently his main focus is on the ongoing Ranji Trophy in 2022–23.
He added, “There is a possibility of working with a new setup and that’s exciting. But really, as a player, there is nothing much you can do but eagerly wait and watch. So that’s the thought. Just wait and watch what happens. The domestic season and Ranji Trophy is going on, so the focus is going to be there.”
Mayank signed off by saying about the outer noise, “For me, it’s not about cutting the noise but focussing on the things at hand. If you can focus on the things you are doing, the outside noise is gone. You can’t hear it. The more you try to cut out the noise, the more it grows. If you just focus on the things at hand, you don’t hear any of it.”
