Veteran England leg-spinner Adil Rashid confirmed that he will put his name in the IPL 2023 auction after a remarkable ICC T20 World Cup 2022 campaign in Australia. Notably, England thrashed Pakistan by 5 wickets in the final to clinch their second T20 World Cup title on Sunday (November 13) at the MCG.
Rashid might not have taken many wickets, but he was very economical with the ball and played a key role in England’s success at the T20 World Cup in 2022. He picked two wickets in the final, including that of Pakistan captain Babar Azam.
After his historic victory at the MCG, the England spinner confirmed that he is going to try his luck at the IPL auction in 2023. However, he is not in talks with any of the 10 franchisees for the next season.

Notably, Rashid scalped only 4 wickets in 6 matches at the T20 World Cup 2022, but this pace and the way he bowled in Australia could attract the IPL franchisees as it could be effective on tracks like Eden Gardens, Chepauk, or Uppal.
Adil Rashid told PTI: “Yes, I will be putting up my name in IPL auctions this time.”
He further revealed that he has decreased his pace and gone for more flighted deliveries, like the googly in the tournament.
While other spinners like Shadab Khan and Liam Livingstone are much quicker through the air when they bowl leg spin, Rashid believes in taking the opposite route with slower balls to be more effective.
"Babar’s googly, I don’t if it was the turning point of the match but I was definitely getting some turn. I don’t know about Shadab Khan or Liam Livingstone.I was bowling a bit more slow today and got the big leggies (leg breaks) going my way. Normally I bowl a bit quicker and bit shorter. That was my game plan for me and that’s the way I bowl,” Adil explained his strategy.
