IPL 2023: WATCH- Mahela Jayawardena shares his views on Mark Boucher becoming MI's head coach

Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians (MI) didn’t take much time to find the replacement of Mahela Jayawardena as head coach after the Sri Lankan legend was elevated to his position by the most successful franchise of the world's biggest T20 league. 

MI roped in former South Africa keeper Mark Boucher, who is South Africa’s current head coach, for the upcoming IPL 2023. Notably, Boucher has already informed the CSA that he will leave the job after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2022.

Well, Jayawardena, who will now be providing senior leadership of the group's cricket operations worldwide, has now shared his views on the appointment of Boucher as MI’s head coach.

In a video shared by MI on Twitter, Jayawardena said: “Mark, he is an exciting coach. The way he has transformed South African white ball cricket. He has been brilliant and he is also someone that we felt thinks differently and will contribute very positively to Mumbai Indians.”

He signed off by saying, “Especially when we have a group of players with the skill sets that we have. Then we have a younger group that is coming through as well. It's the transition that we need to manage and we feel that Mark is the best man for that.”
