In what comes as the latest development, Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings (PBKS) are likely to part ways with Anil Kumble and have approached Eoin Morgan and Trevor Bayliss for the role.

Kumble’s contract with the franchise will end in September and it is learned that the franchise is against the renewal of the contract. The Punjab-based franchise has also approached one former Indian coach whose name hasn’t been revealed in the report by Cricbuzz

PBKS approaching Morgan for the role of the coach comes as a big surprise as the southpaw recently retired from international cricket and has no coaching experience.

After announcing his retirement from international cricket, Morgan joined the commentary panel of Sky Sports and remains available for domestic leagues.

On the other hand, Bayliss, who won Cricket World Cup 2019 with England, has worked with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and has also won the IPL trophy with KKR twice.

Kumble, who joined PBKS in 2020, didn’t have a good tenure as under him the franchise failed to even qualify for the playoffs. It remains to be seen who the Mayank Agarwal-led franchise will rope in as the coach for the next season.
