It seems everything is not well between Ravindra Jadeja and the Chennai Super King (CSK). Last month, Jadeja deleted all posts related to CSK’s 2021 and 2022 campaigns from his official Instagram account, triggering concerns over his future with the IPL franchise.
As if the speculations were not enough, Jadeja deleted a tweet earlier this month, which led to fans believing that he is definitely leaving the Super Kings.
Amid the recent development, a report published in TOI claims that the all-rounder is likely to part ways with the Chennai-based franchise unless something miraculous happens in the next couple of months.
According to the report, Jadeja has been completely "out of touch" with the CSK management since the time the IPL 2022 got over in May.
“CSK is known to function 'like a family' and players stay in touch with the franchise through the year. But Jadeja, who underwent a rehab at NCA, before coming back to the Indian team, has kept the Chennai franchise completely in the dark and has not been part of any activity of CSK,” the TOI report stated.
Notably, Jadeja was appointed Chennai’s captain for the IPL 2022 after the legendary MS Dhoni stepped down from the position two days ahead of the season.
However, he failed to make a mark as a leader. Under him, CSK won just two out of the first eight games and as a result, he decided to relinquish the post, handing over the job back to Dhoni.
Days after he quit the captaincy, Jadeja was also ruled out of the competition with a rib injury but there were rumours that the all-rounder was stripped of captaincy and dropped from the team.
Apparently, the differences between Jadeja and the franchise haven’t been sorted out yet. Since Dhoni has already confirmed that he would play in the 2023 edition of the IPL and most probably lead the team, it is highly unlikely that Jadeja would be ready to come back.
The clarity on whether Jadeja wants an "out" will be a formal trade proposal from another franchise. At that point, Jadeja would need to have a dialogue with CSK authorities and there could be a last effort on the part of Dhoni and the senior management to keep him in the team.
