Gujarat Titans (GT) won IPL 2022 title after defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday, May 29 in Ahmedabad by seven wickets, bringing down curtains on an amazing debut season for Hardik Pandya and co.
GT made history by being the second team to win the championship in their first season in the league, following RR, who won the IPL in the initial season in 2008. Hardik Pandya, the captain, was named Man of the Final after capturing three wickets and scoring a crucial 34.

Rashid Khan, GT's vice-captain, was instrumental in many of their victories and excelled for them with both bat and ball throughout the tournament. Rashid made a confession after GT's amazing title victory on Sunday, revealing the one batter he finds difficult to bowl to.
The renowned Afghanistan leg-spinner disclosed his teammate's identity, Shubman Gill, and stated that he feels fortunate to be friends with him.
"So proud to be here with him. With someone like him, it gives you lots of energy in the game. The way he played throughout the tournament was unbelievable so pleased to have him on our side. He's the only one I was thinking will be hard for me to bowl to but luckily, I have him on my side," Rashid told Star Sports post the IPL final.
Despite losing two early wickets in the chase, Gill struck a crucial unbeaten 45 in 43 balls to ensure GT crossed the line easily in the summit clash. The 22-year-old put the finishing touches on the job with a six. In the 15th edition of the tournament, he scored 483 runs at an average of 34.50. He was picked by Gujarat for Rs. 8 crores.
