Rajasthan Royals (RR) had a memorable season in the IPL 2022, as they made it to the final for only the second time, though they came up short in the final against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 29.
Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shimron Hetmyer, and R Ashwin were the top performers for the Royals this season.
However, the RR player who made the headlines for reasons apart from the on-field performance was Riyan Parag. Riyan was one of the most talked-about players in IPL 2022, mostly because of the antics he carried out on the field.
The uncapped Indian all-rounder from Assam faced harsh criticism from the fans, who targeted him on various social media platforms.
Parag was picked up by RR for a hefty price of 3.80 crore rupees in the IPL 2022 mega auction in February. Playing 17 matches for the pink army, he collected 183 runs at an average of 16.64, with an unbeaten 56 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
After RR lost the final game to the Gujarat Titans (GT), Parag shared an emotional post on Instagram, making it clear that he doesn't intend to pay heed to what people think of him.
Riyan wrote, "Sometimes all you can do is look back and smile. Smile because it doesn’t matter what the world thinks of you. Smile because when you get to bed every single night, knowing you’ve given your 100%, it is always going to be good."
"It wasn’t our night yesterday but it is surely the start of something memorable. Don’t drop the smiles because we couldn’t make it to your yesterday but smile because we will surely be a part of your tomorrow, one day. Until then, hang on and Halla Bol!."
