Daniel Sams, an all-rounder for the Mumbai Indians, has spoken up about his team's performance in IPL 2022, claiming that the five-time champions didn't perform as well as they had hoped.
Speaking with head coach Mahela Jayawardene and bowling coach Shane Bond during the event also aided the Australian.
"Chatting with MJ (Mahela Jayawardena) and Bondy (Shane Bond) I found really helpful. There was a conversation I had with MJ just about what he did when he was struggling and he just talked about keeping it simple, being relaxed," Sams said in a video shared by Mumbai Indians.
With only four victories and ten losses, Mumbai Indians finished last in IPL 2022 points table. MI had lost their first eight games in a row before winning their ninth match against Rajasthan Royals. Injuries, inconsistencies, and frequent chop and change plagued the Mumbai franchise.
Talking about the team's performance, Sams said, "I think it (has) not been the most ideal season. I actually see it as a necessary season for myself, for everyone to become better cricketers, better people.
"We haven't quite performed the way we wanted to, but we're excited with what's to come next year. A lot of us in this squad have had to learn and deal with a lot of stuff because of the way that we have performed."
Mumbai Indians completed their season on a strong note, defeating Delhi Capitals in their last league encounter and knocking Delhi out of contention for the playoffs.
