Gujarat Titans (GT) speedster Lockie Ferguson made his franchise’s day much better as he bowled the fastest ball of the IPL 2022 at 157.3 kph and snatched the record from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Umran Malik in the final of the IPL 2022 which GT won by beating Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 29.
RR was beaten by 7 wickets by GT, who chased down the 131-run target in 18.1 overs with captain Hardik Pandya starring by scoring 34 runs after taking his IPL best 3/17 to keep RR at 130/9 in 20 overs.
During the high-profile encounter, right-arm fast bowler Lockie Ferguson clocked the fastest ball of this season when he bowled at 157.3 kmph to RR batter Jos Buttler, who top-scored with 39 runs for RR.

In the last ball of the fifth over of RR’s innings, Ferguson bowled a pin-point yorker outside the off stump to Buttler, leaving him stunned with the speed as the ball passed him and thudded into Wriddhiman Saha’s gloves.
This thunderbolt got Ferguson not only the fastest delivery of the match award but also went past Sunrisers Hyderabad speedster Umran Malik, who had earlier clocked a 157 kmph delivery against the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022 league stage.
Thanks to this, Ferguson pocketed cool INR 10 lakhs for registering the fastest delivery of the entire tournament.
