Indian cricket legend, Sachin Tendulkar, heaped praise on Rajasthan Royals (RR) fast bowlers, Prasidh Krishna and Obed McCoy, for their brilliant bowling performance in the second qualifier of the IPL 2022 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 27.
Prasidh and McCoy took 6 wickets together to help RR restrict RCB to 157/8 to make Jos Buttler’s job easy to win the match for the side on Friday. RR chased down the target inside the 19th over on the back of Buttler’s unbeaten century to book a place in the IPL 2022 final against Gujarat Titans.
After the match, Tendulkar said that Prasidh and McCoy were the key bowlers for RR, as they never allowed RCB batters to ease the pressure at any point, while also saying the total was below-par on the Motera wicket. He also said that Virat Kohli (7) was dismissed by Krishna with a fantastic delivery.
Sachin Tendulkar said on his YouTube channel: “Along with Prasidh, Obed McCoy was the key bowler. Both kept Bangalore under pressure. Prasidh dismissed Karthik, who had been batting very well down the order with a good strike rate, and followed it up with a brilliant delivery to Hasaranga. 157 wasn't a good total at all on this surface.”
Meanwhile, Kohli handed a simple catch to RR wicket-keeper and captain Sanju Samson while chasing a short and wide delivery of Prasidh Krishna. Speaking on the wicket, Tendulkar noted: “When the ball is moving only one way, it is easy to leave deliveries. However, one of the balls came back in and hit Virat on the thigh. Batters then think, 'I can't leave balls'.”
He signed off by saying, “Prasidh's follow-up delivery (wicket ball) was very good. Virat was beaten by the bounce and the ball moved away off the wicket. That was a fantastic delivery. Where there is pace and bounce on the wicket, it is not easy for batters to adjust, but Patidar did quite well. The two cover drives he hit off Prasidh, his position was excellent. I liked his calm and controlled approach during his innings.”
