On the penultimate day of the league round of the IPL 2022, Delhi Capitals (DC) faced Mumbai Indians (MI) in a must-win game but lost by 5 wickets. The Capitals’ loss was the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) gain as they advanced to the playoffs.
The Delhi team, led by Rishabh Pant, had qualified for the playoffs in the previous two seasons but it has yet to win a title. Although they didn’t reach the playoffs, a lot of positives did come out for the franchise including the performances of Kuldeep Yadav ( 21 wickets in 14 matches), and Mitchell Marsh (251 runs in 8 matches). Opener David Warner too had a great outing in the ongoing season, scoring 432 runs in 12 matches at a remarkable average of 48.

Warner discussed his season with the Capitals in an interview with FOX Cricket, stating that he felt "at home."
“Absolutely loved my time at Delhi. Ricky Ponting as a coach, a lot of familiar faces. It felt like I was back at home with the Australian boys. A number of fresh faces as well, with Rishabh Pant as captain. Exciting young player and leading the team now since 2020. It's a great franchise to be a part of,” he said.
When asked about crowd support in the IPL, the southpaw named three franchises that draw crowds even at the opposition's home stadiums.
“It's crazy. There are three specific teams - Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Chennai Super Kings. It doesn't matter where you play them, (even if) it's your home venue, they are going for them. So you are up against that. So, hopefully, you don't come up against them too often,” he remarked.
On the playoff front, RCB will face Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 27 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahemdabad, with the winner facing Gujarat Titans in the finals on May 29 at the same venue.
