On Wednesday, May 25, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were eliminated from IPL 2022 after losing by 14 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Eliminator.
Even though KL Rahul was Lucknow's leading batter, he was chastised by supporters for his 'lack of intent' during the run-chase. After the game, a photo of Rahul and Gautam Gambhir appeared on social media, and it has since become the topic of memes and jokes.
KL Rahul isn't known for his ability to score runs quickly. In the later stages of his game, he normally takes his time and accelerates. It wasn't much different for the Karnataka lad when his team was given the challenge of chasing 208 runs to keep the game alive.
Rahul finished with 79 runs off 58 balls, while Deepak Hooda amassed 45 runs off 26 balls. None of the other batters even came close to the 20-run mark. Many people on social media chastised Rahul for being the captain.
Fans speculated that if Gambhir had caught up with LSG captain Rahul after the match, the former India opener would have been scathing of the manner Rahul planned his innings.
