On Tuesday, RR's Obed McCoy bowled an interesting opening over in the IPL 2022 Qualifier 1 match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The Royals seamer's first over produced three wides, a no-ball, a wicket, and three boundaries for 18 runs. But McCoy's face after taking Matthew Wade's wicket was priceless.
The towering West Indies left-arm seamer smashed it in short to Wade after starting his spell with a wide short delivery down the leg side and surrendered a boundary. The GT batter took out the pull shot and connected well.
McCoy dropped his head down, thinking it was going for a six, but Jos Buttler, standing at deep mid-wicket, leaped high in the air and took a fine catch, much to his surprise and happiness.
After scoring 35 from 30 balls, McCoy couldn't believe his luck and was seen laughing with captain Sanju Samson and teammate Shimron Hetmyer, while Wade had to trudge back to the pavilion.
On social media, photos of McCoy's dramatic change of emotions within seconds of Buttler catching the ball went viral.
Here are some of the Twitter responses:
Earlier, put in to bat, Jos Buttler's 56-ball 89 and Sanju Samson's 47 helped RR to 188/6.
Gujarat chased down 189 in the first qualifier in Kolkata, riding on an unbeaten 106-run fourth-wicket stand between Pandya (40) and Miller to reach the goal with three balls to spare. Miller scored an unbeaten 68 off 38 balls.
David Miller hammered three sixes off Prasidh Krishna in the 20th over to help Gujarat Titans defeat Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets to reach the IPL 2022 final.
