Shaheen Afridi shares his thoughts on playing in the IPL

Pakistani cricketers are banned from playing in IPL after 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks.

He has enamored fans of the entire globe with his ability to bowl fast and swing the ball at that speed with many comparing him to Pakistani legend Wasim Akram.

He has also shown his acumen as a leader as he led the Lahore Qalandars to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) title this year and has shared his thoughts on playing in the Indian Premier League, considered to be the premier T20 league in the world, and the richest as well.

Pakistan players are banned from participating in the Indian Premier League. The players from the neighboring country played in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2008 but an attack on Mumbai by terrorists from Pakistan resulted in a blanket ban.

Recently, he was asked about his opinion on playing in the IPL, if given a chance and the pacer replied that for him foremost is representing his nation in the game he loves. He also said that playing for Pakistan in all three formats and the PSL was enough for him.

Playing for your country is the proudest moment for any cricketer, so my priority is always my Pakistan. Playing all three formats for your country and then PSL is enough for me right now,” the left-arm pacer was quoted as saying by ProPakistani.com.

He further added that to give his best for the country, he must maintain his fitness. Shaheen Shah Afridi said that IPL, or any other league, holds less importance compared to international cricket. His prime focus is his performance for the national team and the rest of the work can wait.
