Gujarat Titans' (GT) left-handed power hitter Rahul Tewatia commended his former teammate in Rajasthan Royals (RR), Jos Buttler, ahead of the first qualifier of the IPL 2022 to be played on Tuesday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Tewatia was a part of the Rajasthan Royals from IPL 2020 to IPL 2021,  and then was picked up by Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022 mega auction. On the other hand, English batter Jos Buttler, was retained by RR and has been with them since 2018.

In a video shared by the Gujarat Titans, three former members of the Royals - David Miller, Rahul Tewatia and Varun Aaron can be seen remembering their time as members of the team that lifted the first-ever IPL trophy.

While talking about RR batter Jos Buttler, Tewatia said, "He (Buttler) is as calm off the field as he is aggressive with the bat." He added, "I hope he retains the orange cap but doesn't score against us."

Building on Tewatia’s words, David Miller said, "(He has been) very solid. The way he has been batting is incredible this season.”

IPL 2022 started great for Buttler as he went on to score 3 centuries and 3 half-centuries. Although he has not managed to score a lot of runs in the last few matches, he still leads the race for the orange cap this season, with 629 runs in 14 matches at an average of 48.38.

Opening up on his experience as a member of the Royals’ team, Varun Aaron said that he "got to share the dressing room with some of the greats".

Speaking highly of their former team captain Sanju Samson, Miller said, "Being in the (bio) bubble, you get to do a lot more with the team. Sanju as captain has got really nice balance. (He is a) great guy and a seriously good cricketer."

Adding on, Tewatia also heaped praises for Samson. "Playing for Rajasthan Royals was a breakthrough for me. Sanju has been a great captain on the field. We share a close bond; excited to meet him in the playoffs," he said.
