Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli on Thursday (19th May) hilariously extended his support to Mumbai Indians (MI) for their upcoming IPL match against Delhi Capitals (DC).

RCB might have won the match against GT by a big margin and found themselves in the fourth position on the points table, their hopes to qualify for the playoffs still rely on MI.

For RCB to have a chance to qualify, MI need to beat DC on Saturday (21st May) at the Wankhede Stadium. The Rishabh Pant-led side is on 14 points and has better NRR than RCB. A win against the five-time champions would mean curtains for the Du Plessis-led side.

Speaking to Faf du Plessis for iplt20.com after the match against GT, Virat Kohli hilariously said that RCB would be supporting Mumbai Indians in their match against Delhi Capitals and the duo might even be at the stands cheering for them.

"Trying to put our feet up and chill out for 2 days and support Mumbai. We have 2 more supporters for Mumbai, not just 2 but I think 25 more supporters. You might see us in the stadium as well," said Kohli while Du Plessis already began the "Mumbai, Mumbai" chants.

Kohli also talked about his batting experience with skipper Du Plessis. He said that the duo sync together well, which is a great thing for the team.

"For me, the best about batting together, opening the innings has been the experience that we have shared out there in the middle. Applying that experience to give the team a starts is something that I am proud of. We just sync together very nicely from the first season itself which is a great thing for the team," he said.

Kohli also talked about his lean patch in the ongoing IPL 15, saying that he experienced a lot of uncontrollable things this season.

He opened up about his preparation ahead of the GT clash, revealing that he batted 90 minutes in the nets and reacted to the ball on its merit in the match.

"I think it has been a challenging time, there is no doubt about it. A lot of things that are not controllable on the field, you experience that for the first time. So I have experienced that in this season. But one thing that stood out to me about yesterday (Wednesday) was my preparation.

“I batted for about 90 minutes in the nets on the go. All I was trying to do was get into a positive frame of mind. For every ball that I played, I wasn't looking if the ball was seaming or swinging or turning, I was just watching the ball and reacting and giving myself the most positive option possible. I just extended that into the game," he said.

Coming to the match against GT, Kohli looked in great touch after a lean patch. The right-hander stood tall for his side in a must-win encounter and smashed a masterful 73 runs to guide his team to an eight-wicket victory. He also had a staggering 115-run opening partnership with Faf du Plessis, who scored 44 runs in his team’s win.
