IPL 2022: “He should get into most teams”, Ravi Shastri approves of Aamir Khan's IPL gig

The Bollywood actor had earlier shared a video in which he was seen playing cricket

Aamir Khan and Ravi Shastri | Star Sports/ScreenshotA video of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan playing cricket went viral on the internet last month. It was a promotional video for his upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha's new song.

Based on the video, former India all-rounder and head coach Ravi Shastri has given his expert opinion on the Bollywood superstar's cricketing talent.

Khan was seen playing cricket with the film's crew in the video, which was originally put out on the Aamir Khan Productions' Instagram account. He later asked his teammates. "IPL mein chance hai kya (Do I have a chance to make it to IPL teams)?" 

Recently, Star Sports shared a clip where the anchor Jatin Sapru can be seen asking Ravi Shastri if Aamir has a chance in the league. To this, Shastri replied, "He looks good in the nets. Probably, he needs to spend some time on his footwork. But should get into most teams."

Ravi Shastri represented India in 80 Tests and 150 One-Day Internationals. He became a commentator after retiring, until being named head coach of the Indian cricket team in 2017. He served as a coach of the national side till November 2021.

Laal Singh Chaddha is directed by Advait Chandan, who has directed films like Secret Superstar and was an assistant production manager on the 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. After their 2009 blockbuster, 3 Idiots, Aamir, Kareena, and Mona Singh reunite in this film.

Naga Chaitanya makes his Bollywood debut in this film. The film is said to feature cameo appearances by Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan.

The 57-year-old actor has also worked in a cricket-based film ‘Lagaan’ which was released in 2001.
