Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rinku Singh yet again impressed one and all with attacking batting in the 66th match of the ongoing IPL 2022 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Wednesday, May 18.
The left-hander smashed two four and four sixes to notch up 40 runs off just 15 balls to take KKR close to the target of 211 runs, but the franchise fell just 2-runs short of the target to eliminate from the ongoing IPL 2022 on Wednesday.
This season is undoubtedly memorable for Rinku, as he amassed 176 runs in his 7 outings for the KKR at the strike rate of 148. He hit Stoinis for 2 sixes and one four before getting out with 3 runs needed off 2 runs.
After the LSG v KKR match, KKR head coach Brendon McCullum heaped praise on Rinku Singh and said that the young batter is their find of the IPL 15, and they will invest in him in the coming years.
McCullum said at the post-match press conference: “Absolutely he (Rinku) sure has (been the find of the season). Rinku is a player who KKR will invest in, no doubt, over the next few years and we will see him really progress and may even challenge for higher honors in time.”
The head coach further noted: “Not too many people are able to bat in middle-order and sort of being able to try (and) pull games out of the fire as he (Rinku) has almost done for us on a couple of occasions this year. Just a great guy and I’m really pleased for him.”
He signed off by saying, “I am heading in a different direction with the challenge of being able to coach England in front of me, but I will follow all KKR boys, particularly Rinku as well and all the guys I had to do fair bit in the last few years.”
