Rajasthan Royals (RR) registered a comprehensive 24-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 63 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on Sunday (May 15).
Opting to bat first, RR posted 178/6 in their 20 overs with vital contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal (41 off 28 balls), Devdutt Padikkal (39 off 18 balls), and skipper Sanju Samson (32 off 24 balls).
Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi starred with the ball for LSG, returning with two wickets by conceding 31 runs in his four overs.
With the ball, RR restricted LSG to 154/8 in 20 overs. All the Rajasthan bowlers were among the wickets but it was Trent Boult who stole the show, picking two wickets by giving away just 18 runs in his four overs.
While Prasidh Krishna (2-32) and Obed McCoy (2-35) also took two scalps each, R Ashwin (1-24) and Yuzvendra Chahal (1-42) claimed wicket apiece.
Apart from Deepak Hooda (59 off 39 balls), no other Lucknow batter played a significant knock to take the team over the line as they slipped to the third spot on the points table with RR taking the second position on the basis of superior net run-rate.
