Ravindra Jadeja, the all-rounder for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), was ruled out of the IPL 2022 season on Wednesday due to a rib injury he sustained during the match against RCB.
CSK officially released a statement about his injury saying: “Ravindra Jadeja reported a bruised rib and was unavailable for Chennai Super Kings' game against Delhi Capitals on Sunday. He was under observation and based on medical advice he has been ruled out for the rest of the IPL season."
There have been numerous reports of a potential rift between the franchise and the all-rounder after CSK unfollowed Jadeja on their official Instagram handle.
Aakash Chopra, the former India opener, may have hinted at what is going on behind the scenes.
While previewing the match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, Chopra expressed his belief that Jadeja "might not be there next year" for CSK. He used Suresh Raina as an example, saying that the franchise has a history of severing ties with players.
"For Chennai, I had said that Jadeja won't play the match and I have a feeling he might not be there next year too.
This happens a lot in the CSK camp that there is no clarity on injuries and then a player doesn't play. I remember it was in 2021 that Suresh Raina played till a point and after that things came to an end, That’s it, TATA. So, I don't know what is the case with Jaddu (Jadeja), but his absence will be a problem for CSK," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

The all-rounder was CSK's most expensive player retained ahead of the IPL 2022 auction at Rs 16 crores. He was also named the team's captain just two days before the event began. CSK, on the other hand, lost six of their eight games while he was captain.
He then handed the captaincy back to MS Dhoni so he could concentrate on his own game. CSK won two out of three games under Dhoni's leadership.
Jadeja has had a disappointing season thus far, accumulating only 116 runs in ten games (an average of 19.33) with a best score of 26*. So far, he has only taken five wickets.
