Ashwin scored his first T20 fifty in his 277th match in the format | BCCI-IPLThe 58th match of the IPL 2022 saw Rajasthan Royals (RR) taking on Delhi Capitals (DC) on May 11, 2022, at the DY Patil Stadium. DC won the toss and decided to bowl first, in what is a must-win game for them.

DC are placed 5th on the IPL 2022 points table with 5 wins in 11 matches and a loss here could be a huge setback to their hopes of playoffs qualification, while for the 3rd place holders RR, it’s a matter of keeping winning to ensure their spot in final four.

DC made two changes Lalit Yadav replaced Ripal Patel and Khaleel Ahmed was replaced by Chetan Sakariya. On the other hand, RR had a forced change as Rassie van der Dussen came in for Shimron Hetmyer, who has gone back home for the birth of his first child.

RR lost Jos Buttler early, and then Yashasvi Jaiswal for 19 runs, but R Ashwin, who was promoted to the no.3 spot, took full advantage of it and scored a valuable 50 in 38 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. This was his first 50 in the T20 format in his 277th match.

Ashwin is always known for doing things differently when he bowls, with all the variations and changes in action. But during his knock against DC, Ashwin showed a variation in his batting stance as well as he was seen crouching really low, especially while facing spinners, as if he was preparing to sweep them.

This led to Twitterati going into hyperdrive and a meme fest ensued with some clever memes using Ashwin’s stance.
