The Delhi Capitals (DC), captained by Rishabh Pant, have won just five of their eleven matches this IPL 2022 season. In most of the matches, the club has struggled to deliver as a unit, and DC assistant coach Shane Watson offered his thoughts ahead of the team's upcoming match against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

When asked what has bothered DC the most in the 15th edition, Watson replied it is the lack of consistency in plan execution that has affected Delhi the most.

"Our biggest challenge this season has been our execution. We have executed our plans in all three departments at times, but we've not been able to be consistent. The players have been working really hard to find a way to be consistent and hopefully, we can execute our plans over the last three games," Watson said before the DC-RR match.

Under the watch supervision of head coach Ricky Ponting, one of the most regarded leaders in international cricket, DC has become one of the most improved sides in recent years.

Watson continued to say that Ponting has always asked his players to learn from their prior game.

"Ricky has always asked the players to learn from their last game, learn about the little things that they can improve on individually and then just move forward on to the next game. The most important thing is that the players need to keep learning," Watson added.

DC, who are now ranked fifth in the IPL 2022 points table, will face the Sanju Samson-led Royals, who are currently in third place with seven victories from 11 games.

Watson urged the DC players to step up their game in preparation for their next opponents, who include R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, two powerful spinners.

"The Rajasthan Royals have been playing well and they have been consistent throughout the tournament. Jos Buttler has been incredible for them and Rajasthan have world-class spinners in Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal. The Royals are going to be a tough opponent and every individual has to up their game." Watson concluded.
