IPL 2022: "If I pick a five-wicket haul, I will celebrate with that pose"- Chahal on his viral celebration v KKR

Chahal picked a fifer and a hat-trick against KKR in IPL 2022.

Yuzvendra Chahal, the leg-spinner for Team India, has had a difficult few months following the IPL 2021. Despite being the leading wicket-taker for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the second half of last year's IPL, Chahal was not retained by the team ahead of the big auction.

Chahal was bought by Rajasthan Royals for INR 6.5 crores at the super auction after RCB passed on him. Chahal has been outstanding for the Men in Pink, not just taking crucial wickets but also controlling the run-flow while having the flexibility to bowl whatever he wants.

Chahal came into his own during RR's game against Kolkata Knight Riders when the two teams met for the first time this IPL 2022 season.

Due to skipper Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten 85, KKR were doing good in their huge chase of 218 runs against the Royals. The Knight Riders needed 40 runs in the final four overs, and with six wickets in hand, the batting side would have had a better chance of getting over the line.

Chahal, on the other hand, had other ideas, taking four wickets in the over, including a hat-trick, to swing the tide in his team's favour.

Chahal joined in the internet meme celebration after completing his five-for.

Chahal discussed the viral celebration and why it holds a particular place in his heart on Sharechat Audio Chatrooms with teammates Navdeep Saini and Kuldeep Sen. Chahal also discussed how much he enjoys his time with RR in his first season with the team.

"I was not playing a game during the 2019 World Cup. So, I was lying on the ground and a picture of the same went viral on social media. Later, I got to know people are making memes out of it, so it was pretty special for me as well. Hence, I thought if I pick a five-wicket haul, I will celebrate with that pose. So it was already there on my head, and I celebrated the success with that pose.

"I am feeling extremely happy about the first season and I was pretty excited since the start. When I reached the camp and met everyone I felt really happy. Currently, I am just enjoying each and every game and trying to work hard and give my best to the team in order to contribute to the win," Chahal added.
