Suryakumar Yadav sustained a left forearm muscle injury in MI's last match against GT.

Suryakumar Yadav | BCCI/IPLMumbai Indians (MI) on Monday (May 9) suffered a big setback as their key batter Suryakumar Yadav got ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2022 season due to a left forearm muscle injury.

Suryakumar picked up the injury during his team’s last clash against Gujarat Titans. Notably, the right-hander had missed MI’s first two games this season owing to the hairline fracture he sustained on his thumb in the T20I series against the West Indies in February.

“Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav has been ruled out of the TATA IPL 2022 owing to a left forearm muscle injury,” IPL said in a statement.

“Mr. Yadav sustained the injury during the team’s fixture against Gujarat Titans on 6th May, 2022,” it added.

Taking to Twitter, Mumbai Indians also confirmed his injury, stating: “Suryakumar Yadav has sustained a muscle strain on his left fore arm, and has been ruled out for the season. He has been advised rest, in consultation with the BCCI medical team.”

Suryakumar Yadav featured in 8 matches this season, amassing 303 runs at an average of 43.29 with three half-centuries.

Having lost 8 out of their 10 games, MI are already out of the IPL 2022 playoffs race. The Rohit Sharma-led side is due to take on KKR in their next clash at DY Patil Stadium on May 9.
