MS Dhoni may be nearing the end of his cricket career, but he is still one of the best captains in the game. He began IPL 2022 season as a wicketkeeper-batter, relinquishing the captaincy of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to Ravindra Jadeja.

However, with the reigning champions struggling to find their stride, the experienced cricketer was called to take the reins once again.

With 40-year-old Dhoni still proving to be a significant asset, the question of his future with the CSK remains large in the minds of Chennai fans, who will undoubtedly want to see their favorite captain return for another season.

Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistan speedster, feels that CSK skipper MS Dhoni would play another season before retiring from the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“He is MS Dhoni. Can’t really predict what he does. He can do any odd stuff. He is known for doing that. He’s a great guy. We all love him and respect him. Personally, though, I reckon he will play another season before he calls it a day. Or again, he might be part of the management,” the ex-Pakistan cricketer told Sportskeeda.

He also spoke on CSK's inconsistent season, which has left their playoffs hopes hanging by a thread.

“Since the IPL started, Chennai has rarely been knocked out early. They make an impression almost every season. But there are too many cooks in the kitchen for CSK this time. They need time to regroup. It’s too late this season. They have to come back next year with some clear thinking and a clear mind. You win matches off the field, in the dressing room. On the field, you only put up performances,” he added.
